San Pellegrino en Alpe

After a good breakfast of coffee, yogurt, granola, toast, cheese and boiled egg, along with melon and grapes, we headed off for our hike about 8:30. Our mini-bus took us up another incredible winding road up to a little village about 1300 meters high with only 11 year-round inhabitants. In the summer many people come to the area to hike or even bike. We had a lovely 4 hour hike first up through some trees, then along the alp. The trail was very good and well marked. We climbed up to a high point to see the fantastic view. The way back was partly on trail and partly on a very rough road. We reached back to San Pellegrino for a late and leisurely lunch. I had the best tortellini I've ever tasted, with a porcini sauce. (and a little red wine)
After lunch we did another little walk to a refuge looked after by our guide. Then our bus took us back down the mountain. We had a little walk around Castlenouvo de Garfagnana, then back to our Agrotourismo for a little relax!
